Jovanna's #1 design tip - living how you dress yourself
Your top tips for interior design?
You should live how you dress yourself. My uber talented sister Breeze Giannasio from Breeze Giannasio Interiors is famous for saying this. If you were to peek into my closet and take a snapshot you would notice both a juxtaposition of neutrals including, black, white, gray, and tan AND incredibly bright prints, prints, and more prints. My home is the same way and another way I can express myself. Lots of black, tan, white and bright pops of art scattered throughout.
How did you get into art collecting? Tips for others that want to get into art collecting? Where are you best secret places to go for great art finds?
I have always loved, valued and prioritized art, design, travel and expression. It’s a big part of how I was raised. I first started collecting art when we moved back home to Oahu about 12 years ago after living in NYC for two years where my husband finished Medical School. We moved home, a few weeks later welcomed our first daughter and for the first time I found myself home with our darling newborn and blank walls after having lived a fairly nomadically living in the Caribbean for two years and later NYC. I slowly started to peek into the local art scene in Hawaii and eventually started scouring local Estate Sales, White Elephant Sales at Schools, visiting Galleries, and even Goodwill.
Your top tips for being a working mom?
Juggling life, family, Real Estate, and volunteering as a Board Member of Adventist Health Castle Hospital is busy, fun, exhausting, challenging and exhilarating. I’m very fortunate to receive tremendous love and on-going support from my family who all live on island and pitch in with our daughters. I do my best to be in the present moment, as I believe the saying is so sadly true- days are long, but the weeks are quick. In a blink of an eye, my children have grown and developed at warp speed.
Share a little about your work.
With an affinity for design and architecture, I’m deeply passionate about working in Residential Real Estate and love representing Kamaaina families with buying, selling and investment. My true niche is not in a particular area of Hawaii, but rather in relationships. I’m a Realtor-Associate with COMPASS.
